about me

Well, hello there,

I am finally getting around to something I have always been interested in – blogging. First step, introducing myself and some of the things I will likely be blogging about. My name is Christy! If you can’t tell from my domain “scrunchynursemom” I am a momma, a nurse, and I coined the term “scrunchy” to label myself for the purpose of this blog. I am sure you’ve heard of crunchy moms, who, by definition, is a mother who tends to follow a natural lifestyle and incorporate it into their parenting. “Scrunchy” stands for sort of crunchy, which is what I consider myself. I live more on the crunchy spectrum, but I also don’t strictly adhere to that lifestyle – sometimes I make Kraft mac n’ cheese and that’s okay.

More (and more important things) about me is that I am a follower of Jesus, a prayer warrior for many of my friends and family, and I am always seeking my faith and relationship with God. I am also a momma to one amazing little girl, with a second (mystery gender) baby on the way. My daughter was born with Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, so I am a special needs mom. I am married to my wonderful husband, we have been married for over 5 years, and we are high school sweethearts. I am positive that down the line, I will have blogs about these topics.

I have many interests and niches that I plan to blog about, somehow, they are all connected, at least in my brain because these are things that make me who I am. Career wise, I am a nurse with a wide variety of experience from ICU, mental health, travel nursing, and COVID-19 nursing throughout the pandemic, and now pediatric outpatient nursing. While I work in healthcare, I also have a very open mind to naturopathic and homeopathic healing and health, and full believe that our healthcare system is rotten at the core and we are a “get sick, get medicine” kind of society versus a get healthy, stay healthy society. Way more where that comes from, but again, future blogs.

Other interests that make me who I am – things like minimalism, deep cleaning, and organization. I am very satisfied by all these topics, and I try to get better at each of them all the time (always a work in progress). I am a vocalist, and lead worship at my local church. Budgeting and finances are also of interest to me, and my husband and I enjoy helping our friends set and meet financial goals. I like to focus on eating whole foods, and trying my best to cook recipes that are well rounded.

If I am being honest, my blog topics will probably be consistently random, because of my squirrely personality I don’t just want to pick one topic to focus on and never have the opportunity to blog about other things. Don’t hesitate to fill out the contact form with ideas or interest for future blogs.

Thanks for visiting!
